post-transplant

Tatiana is at the University Medical Center in Tuscon (Speedway and Campbell) and she had her transplant last friday, so today she is day +7! She has been having some complications, she is hypertensive (high blood pressure) and her anc is now zero. She was admitted to the PICU (pediactric intensive care unit) on wednesday for pulmonary edema (fluid in her lungs)..she also has slight bleeding in her lungs and water retention in her tissue. She was up to 9.4 kg and today she is down to 9kg, which is 19.8lbs! Our goal is to get her back down to 8kg (17.6 lbs). Chemotherapy and high dose steroids makes her retain fluid. She is intubated now on about 40% oxygen and she is stable. They are giving her diuretics to help evacuate fluid in her lungs and tissue. There has been some slight progress since wednesday and she is sedated through this time. She is getting platelets and red blood cells almost daily, she is unable to eat at the moment, until they can have more fluid output than input, because she is on so many medications. They have tested her for pnemonia and some viruses, which are constantly being tested, so we won't know the results until something turns up positive. The doctors are great and seem optomistic about Tatiana's recovery...prayers are helpful and appreciated! I am still staying on the bmt floor at 3nw, while she is at 6w.
