We are back at the hospital. Tatiana had a fever Friday morning and we were admitted at 4am. She had 100.8 degree temperature; when she is neutropenic, having a fever is quite serious because she has no immune system to fight any infection, so they have to start her on antibiotics right away. She is on cefapime right now, given to her every 8 hours. She also takes bactrim (anti-pnemonia/antibiotic) and fluconazol (anti fungal). She gets the bactrim twice a day 2.5ml on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. She takes the fluconazol every day (1ml).
We may be going home on Monday, her temperature is back to normal and we are waiting for the results of her blood culture, testing for infection. her blood counts are still low, but her hemoglobin is up to 14 and her platelets are 40,000. Her ANC is still zero. We are still waiting on insurance to clear for the bone marrow transplant, so we hope it goes through in time, otherwise, they may have to start another round of chemotherapy before we go to Tuscon, as well as waiting for her complete recovery of her blood counts.
