This week has been a new experience for me. I was lucky enough to get mastitis for the first time and didn't realize how sick you feel and how fast it comes on. Monday night at dinner time, I started feeling sick, so I took a bath and laid down. Then I checked my temperature and it was over 102 degrees! From then on it only got worse..I felt so bad, I couldn't even get up and take care of my family. Brant was the Mom and Dad for 24 hours. Men were not meant to be the caregivers of the family, but he did it. Hailey was fed the bottle for the first few times and did well and Tati, is an angel, so no worries there. Brant got me my medication and made sure I was pumping milk every 3 hours. I felt a little better the next day, plus Brant had to go back to school. Having two kids is definitely a challenge, but worth every minute of it. My friend Janae came over and helped out, while Tati and Luke got to play and go to the Fall Festival! I am so thankful for my family and love them very much!
Tati also had her visit at Phoenix Childrens with Dr. Joseph, her nephrologist. Her labs looked pretty good.. we started her back on calcitriol, because her body isn't making enough vitamin D. Her PTH (para thyroid hormone) was high @ 96. Her hemoglobin is getting a little low, but we're not starting her back on epo yet. Hemoglobin was 10.9 and Hematocrit 31.3..so not too bad. Her creatinine was 0.7 and Bun 47. Which means she's hanging in there. One thing we're concerned about this month is that she isn't growing and hasn't grown in the past few months. So we are having to bulk her up, in calories, so that she grows. The calories will first go to the brain, then the body for nutrition, then length.. so she needs extra to catch up in length; because of the lack of function in her kidneys, which is about 50-60% of an adult kidney. sorry if any of this is confusing!

You sound like an amazing Mother! Your sweet family is so blessed to have you. Hope you are feeling better.
Oh man, mastitis sucks! I had it when Stratton was only 3 weeks old but I didn't have the normal symptoms so I went undiagnosed for over a week with a 105 temperature. It was HORRIBLE! By the time they figured out what was wrong with me, I had lost all of my milk. I hope you can get over it quickly and get back to normal! It is not fun, I'm sorry you have to go through that. Good job Brant for stepping up!
Crazy, I understand every single thing you said about her kidneys, labs, etc. Has she ever had to receive dialysis? Her Cr is good for only having 50-60% function. H&H isn't too bad, at what level do they start epo? I hope the nutrition thing goes well, you are such a great mom! Having two kids will get easier...
Dre-
I'm so sorry you were sick! I still have something for you and want to stop by soon, maybe this week? :)
Thanks for the invite! Glad you are feeling better. I hear that mastitis is killer...I've never had it...knock on wood. Your girls are so cute!! You all looked so cute on Halloween.
